First Meeting of the ATAF General Assembly |

ATAF’s First Meeting of the ATAF General Assembly was hosted by Mr Sudhamo Lal, the Director General of the Mauritius Revenue Authority. This was the first meeting of all ATAF’s representatives since the inaugural conference in Kampala Uganda in 2009. The meeting came at a significant time in global financial and economic developments, which in one way or another, greatly affect and determine what decisions Heads of African Tax Administrations make and how they carry out their mandates.

Technical Workshop on the Exchange of Information |

The purpose of ATAF is to promote and facilitate mutual cooperation, sharing of experiences and benchmarking among African Tax Administrations and other relevant and interested stakeholders with the aim of improving the efficacy of African tax legislation and administrations. This workshop drew upon OECD work in this area as well as African experiences in the exchange of information. The underlying legal basis for international exchange of information was examined and illustrated with case studies highlighting the balance between the legal obligation to exchange and the limitations that safeguard taxpayers’ rights.

Joint ATAF – Korea Conference on Domestic Resource Mobilisation |
